How much luggage I can bring to South Africa?
I may have too much luggage when he returns to South Africa on 30 December. I have a family of four and each can take a maximum of 20 kilos. We have 2 suitcases large and two smaller ones. Then we have a heavy box and a light box. I'm not sure how much weight can have on the set. Can you offer some ideas on how reduce weight? The safe is full of gifts. The other heavy suitcase full of old clothes I want to give to the poor in South Africa. A real dilemma!
Well, I have a dilemma on their hands. When we moved to Australia we were allowed 40 kilos each - and still struggling with the weight of luggage. We had to pack and wrap again around 10 times to be on the limit of 160 kilos. We did discover a trick that worked quite well: we take our hand luggage and put our heaviest things there. We make sure that the hand luggage bags seemed "small" to take into account and were very, very heavy ... It was a pain to carry around that weight, but was worth at the end. By the way - no hand luggage weighed a stroke of luck! Also - go through everything again and leave behind the things you really really really is not necessary! I hope everything works out! And have a fabulous time in SA ...

What is the best way to travel around the U.S. Atlantic Coast?
I am traveling with three other people and we cover most of the American East Coast as possible, to southern New York and ending in Miami. So we're talking westerly direction across the deserts to finally end in Los Angeles. I think that an RV can be our best bet, but expensive, especially with gas prices these days? Can anyone suggest some more practical ways, some famous and well worth it, train routes? Perhaps some dogs? What cities should or should not see on the road? Thanks, any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, an RV is expensive. It may be cheaper to rent a car and stay in hotels along the road. Coming from the UK / Europe, do not think the high gas prices appear to you. It is less than $ 3 a gallon in most places. If I were driving from New York to Miami, I would leave DC for a day or two you go down the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, back to the coast of Charleston South Carolina, to Orlando and [DisneyWorld, if that's your thing], and then to Miami. Miami to Los Angeles is a very long journey. [Try Mapquest or Google Maps to find out how long.] You would need at least a week to promote it and more like two weeks, if you want to stop and see much of anything. Trains from New York to Florida, but it would be able to stop and see anything less than Amtrak offers this type of ticket. Greyhound bus would be like hell. You should consult a travel guide to the U.S. as whether printed or online, for example, Frommer's, Fodor's, Lonely Planet, etc TripAdvisor.com has destination guides and reviews on hotels past.
